Training Location
The training takes place at ITPS’s facility at London Ontario International Airport in Canada. The airport dates back to 1939 and is situated in a location that was then outside the city limits of London but has since been annexed into the city. It was originally an air base under the command of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan, where pilots from the British colonies and former colonies were trained; as a tribute to this period, a Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star aircraft in former Royal Canadian Air force livery is mounted in front of the main terminal building. It is now operated by the Greater London International Airport Authority. London International Airport has experienced tremendous growth as of late. With WestJet entering the market during the early 2000s, an increase in terminal size was needed. As a result, London International Airport's terminal was completely renovated and expanded to meet passenger needs finishing in 2003.
The ITPS facility at the airport encompasses office and classroom space as well as a hangar. Students have access to individual computers and audiovisual equipment. A wi-fi network supports an online specifications and document library as well as internet access. Change-room and locker facilities as well as a crew rest room and kitchen area are available to students. The airport provides modern facilities and two runways of 8800 and 5000 feet length respectively. Emergency and Rescue services are available on a 24 hour basis. ITPS has considerable experience operating out of London International and considers it an ideal venue due to the high level of services available, airspace and weather considerations.
London Ontario is a city of 380,000 inhabitants, and the home of the University of Western Ontario. It offers the full range or amenities and recreational opportunities. The city is conveniently located in the proximity of Toronto, but also close to the US border.
